Global (EPC) Oilfield Organization Undergoes Divestiture in SAP Using Selective Data Migration

Summary

New Era Technology has been an SAP services partner for a leading oilfield services company in the Middle East and
delivered SAP On-Premise to Azure Cloud Migration, SAP S/4HANA Application Version Upgrade, Implementation of SAP IFRS16 Lease Management, and SAP Application Maintenance Services for this client.

This client was undergoing a divestiture, resulting in one of their two business units getting acquired by another
global oilfield services company. The client needed SAP Carve-Out strategy and execution services to create two SAP
landscapes, one each for the respective business divisions, along with IT infrastructure enablement to host one
completely new SAP landscape resulting from this carve-out. New Era Technology successfully delivered the
complete scope of SAP Carve-Out services for the client in a record time of five months.

Process

New Era Technology’s Strategy and Advisory consulting services determined that the best course of action was the
“Selective Data Copy with Dual SAP System Carve-Out” approach. This solution ensured minimal disruption to business operations while guaranteeing maximum process optimization and data integrity. By honing our skills to evaluate partners, New Era chose the next generation tool that would be used to sequence data from our large clients. In addition to focusing on high-sensitivity and accuracy, New Era also used a unique imputation engine to efficiently produce genotype data, which is extremely accurate.

Outcome

Despite the complexity, challenges and considerations around this program, New Era successfully delivered the
outcomes one week prior to the planned date, to accommodate client’s alternate program commitments. The
expected SAP Process, Integration, Reporting, Data & Security outcomes were validated in the Productive
environments by leveraging the pre-defined, safe-validation procedures, to ensure the required segregation,
consistency, accuracy and integrity.

To ensure client satisfaction, New Era’s team openly communicated with the client to share progress updates and
quality gates to review each project phase. Any challenges were identified with the customer, including New Era’s
confidence in overcoming these challenges for each stage of the project. New Era exceeded the six-month deadline,
delivering the SAP Software system conversion in five months.
